Woah, let’s start with the shock factor and work our way back. 😮
I don’t want to cause a spoiler alert, but to be honest, I’m not sure I’m even capable of doing so. 🤔
After finishing my final 2020 read, Maybe the horse will talk by Elliot Perlman, I’ve been left on a total cliffhanger.
You know when you watch the first season of a tv series, and in the final episode something big happens and then it just ends? It just ends! And you are left yelling “what happened?” at the tv, and you have no choice but to wait for what feels like the rest of your life for season two to come out.
Well that’s what just happened to me. Except I’m not sure there will be a season two. I’ve no idea. All I do know is that one minute I was reading a book I was more than mildly interested in, next minute, I’m on the acknowledgments page with a look of bewilderment on my face.
Perhaps my desire to know what happens is proof that I was enjoying the book. This book was a fictional mixture of the popular tv series suits, and trying to highlight important and ongoing issues such as sexual misconduct against women in the workplace. I enjoyed the characters and their forwardness, despite how unrealistic it might be, but it was nice to not have mixed or hidden messages between the characters.
So where do I land on this? Maybe a mixture of disappointment and anticipation? An enjoyable read with zero ending and for that, I just feel a bit lost.
Has anyone else read this book? Did I get a copy with a missing chapter?!?!
