On A Roll

Three for three, It doesn’t get much better than that. We are only four months into the year and already I’ve laughed, cried, ached, sweat (in no particular order) through the highs and lows of a murder mystery, romance, and what I can only describe as a modern day Thelma and Louise of the arts.
I have continued to daydream in the remnants of these books long after I’ve turned the last page.

Reading isn’t just something I like to do every now and then, it has become a way to connect with some of my closest friends. A small group of us (you know who you are) all try to read the same book at the same time, creating a social media book club if you will. We live so far apart, but reading the same book at the same time brings us together. We challenge each other to hurry up so we can talk about how much we liked or hated the book, we post screenshots of books we want to add to our list, and if we manage to get in a sneaky book in between selected reads (obviously some of us have too much time on our hands), we are then left pining for the others to read it so we can talk about it.

The truth is, sometimes it’s nice having something else to talk about other than our kids, work, study, partners etc. We learn so much from each other with every individual opinion of each read.

Between work, study, family, and of course pretending to try to be a successful writer of sorts, it can be tricky to fit in a good book, which is why it can be so hard to pick one, in fear of wasting the precious time we have on a plot that goes nowhere.

Time to deep dive into our next pick, Boy Swallows Universe’ by Trent Dalton. If you have read it, NO SPOILER ALERTS!

If you have not read this book, then why not give it a try? Then when I give my hopefully rave review, you can put your two cents in.

What are you all reading right now?
Any must reads I should know about or have you read anything I’ve suggested in the past?

Happy reading.
